Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) www.apnc.org APNC is a state organization that exists to advance policy, services, and professional development that reflect the highest standards of the addiction profession, strengthen its value to the community, and promote the values of its members.
Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) www.cadca.org A national organization that works to strengthen the capacity of community coalitions to create and maintain safe, healthy and drug-free communities. It supports its members by providing training and technical assistance, public policy advocacy, media strategies and marketing programs, conferences and special events. CADCA has numerous publications including its series of Strategizers and Primers available to members.
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) prevention.samhsa.gov
SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention disseminates effective substance abuse prevention practices and works with States and communities to develop comprehensive prevention systems that create healthy communities in which people enjoy a quality of life. This includes supportive work and school environments, drug and crime free neighborhoods and positive connections with friends and family.
Community Toolbox www.ctb.ku.edu
The Community Toolbox offers two types of support for using promising approaches for promoting community health and development. It provides support for implementing "best practices" or evidence-based mechanisms for promoting community change and improvement. It also provides links to databases of "best practices" or evidence-based approaches to addressing specific problems or goals.
National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices www.nrepp.samhsa.gov NREPP is a searchable database of interventions for prevention and treatment of mental health and substance abuse disorders. SAMHSA has developed this database to help people, agencies, and organizations implement programs and practices in their communities.
North Carolina SPF-SIG www.ncspfsig.org Provides information on the North Carolina Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG).
North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) www.ncsappb.org The NCSAPPB is the credentialing body in the state for all substance abuse professionals. Provides information on various trainings across the state and resources for substance abuse professionals.
Prevention is the Answer www.preventionistheanswer.org
The purpose of the North Carolina Prevention Providers’ Association is to first create one voice for prevention in North Carolina for advocacy, central communication and networking for substance abuse prevention providers; and, second to have providers participate in the decisions that affect the ability to offer prevention services and stay in business.
Prevention Platform www.preventionplatform.samhsa.gov SAMHSA's Prevention Platform is an online resource for substance abuse prevention. Its tools are designed to assist you with assessment, capacity, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
