Alternative to Long Term Suspension

Students who are caught with their first time offense of policy violation for illegal substances on school campus are now offered an alternative to long term suspension. Students and their families are referred for an interview, free of charge, to determine the level of service needs. If they are found to be in need of Prevention Services, an educational program will be offered through Coastal Horizons Center at no charge to the family. If they are found in need of additional substance abuse services, they are given a list of providers from which to choose. The family will have the obligation to chose a provider from the list and arrange for additional services at their expense.
